The prayer card in this piece dates from between the 1920s-1950s and is of German origin. Prayer cards (or holy cards) are traditionally used for individual prayer, given out at funerals to remember a loved one, or distributed during religious events as a keepsake.

This particular prayer card features the immaculate heart of Mary.
